Saving and Reopening a Project
This page explains the basic process for saving a MIStudio project and reopening it later.
Overview
Saving a project stores the current project structure, applications, graphics, properties, data connections, and configuration.
Reopening a project allows you to continue editing the project or confirm that the application restores as expected.
When to Save
Save the project after making important changes, such as:
- Creating a project
- Creating an application
- Adding graphics
- Editing graphic properties
- Adding data sources
- Connecting data sources to graphics
- Updating logic or configuration
Basic Save Steps
- Open the MIStudio project.
- Make the needed changes.
- Save the project.
- Wait for the save operation to complete.
- Confirm there are no save errors or warning messages.
Basic Reopen Steps
- Close the project or close MIStudio.
- Open MIStudio again.
- Open the saved project.
- Open the application you were working on.
- Confirm that the graphics, properties, and connections are still present.
- Continue editing or testing the project as needed.
What to Check After Reopening
After reopening a project, confirm that the main parts of the application restored correctly.
Check for:
- Applications are present.
- Graphics appear in the expected locations.
- Graphic properties are still set correctly.
- Data source connections are still present.
- Runtime behavior still works as expected.
- Any images or project resources still load correctly.
Good Practice
Save regularly while working in MIStudio.
For larger changes, it can also be helpful to reopen the project after saving to confirm that the project restores correctly before continuing with more changes.
