Creating a Project
This page explains the basic process for creating a project in MIStudio.
Overview
A MIStudio project is the main container for an application or system. A project can include applications, graphics, images, drivers, targets, components, and other project resources.
Projects are used to organize the screens and resources needed for a dashboard, operator interface, monitoring system, or other industrial application.
Before Creating a Project
Before creating a project, MIStudio should already be open.
It is helpful to know what the project will be used for before creating it.
For example, a project might be created for:
- A production dashboard
- A tool or equipment interface
- A data monitoring display
- A reporting or visualization application
- A customer-specific system
Basic Steps
- Click file and then the option to create a new project.
- Enter a project name.
- Confirm the new project.
- Select target, either MIX or AWS
- Click Ok.
Choosing a Project Name
Use a project name that clearly describes the purpose of the project.
Good project names are usually short, descriptive, and easy to recognize later.
Examples:
- ProductionDashboard
- ToolStatusDisplay
- FabMonitoring
- CustomerDemo
- LineOneOverview
Avoid names that are vague or difficult to recognize later. It is also best to avoid spaces or special characters in project names unless your MIStudio version specifically supports them.
After the Project Is Created
After creating a project, the project appears in the MIStudio project tree.
The next step is usually to create an application inside the project. Applications are where screens, graphics, controls, and visual behavior are built.
