Button-Style Control Common Properties

This page documents common properties shared by button-style active controls in MIStudio.

Button-style controls include:

Overview

Button-style controls are Active Controls that users can click at runtime.

They are commonly used to send values, trigger actions, display on/off states, show labels or images, and provide button-style interaction in an application.

Not every button-style control supports every property listed on this page. Check the individual control page for differences specific to that control.

Common Uses

Button-style controls can be used for:

  • Creating clickable controls
  • Sending on/off values
  • Triggering application logic
  • Displaying button labels
  • Displaying button images
  • Showing enabled, disabled, on, or off states
  • Opening or triggering a configured action

Common Basic Properties

Name Sets the name of the control.

Draw Label Controls whether the label text is displayed.

Font Controls the font used for the label.

Label Color Sets the color used for the label text.

Color On Sets the color used for the on state, if supported.

Color Off Sets the color used for the off state, if supported.

Label For On Sets the text displayed when the control is in the on state.

Label For Off Sets the text displayed when the control is in the off state, if supported.

Value for On Sets the output value used for the on state.

Value for Off Sets the output value used for the off state.

Click Action Defines the action used when the control is clicked, if supported.

Common Image Properties

Image On Name Selects an image to display when the control is in the on state.

Image Off Name Selects an image to display when the control is in the off state, if supported.

Disabled Image Selects an image to display when the control is disabled, if an image is configured.

Image Resizes Controls whether the selected image resizes to fit the control area.

Disabled Text Sets the text displayed when the control is disabled, if supported.

Common Expert Properties

Bad Qual. Indicator Controls the indicator used when the control receives bad quality data.

Warning Qual. Indicator Controls the indicator used when the control receives warning or transitional quality data.

Bezel Sets the bezel style.

Bezel Color Sets the outside bezel color.

Bezel Inside Color Sets the inside bezel color.

Bezel Thickness Sets the thickness of the bezel.

Cursor Sets the cursor shown when the pointer is over the control.

Depth Sets the depth used when the control is drawn with a 3D appearance.

Draw 3D Controls whether the control is drawn with a 3D appearance.

Enabled Controls whether the user can interact with the control.

Authorized Groups Defines authorized groups for the control, if security or authorization is configured.

Rotation Sets the control rotation.

Visible Controls whether the control is shown.

Runtime Behavior

At runtime, button-style controls can respond to user clicks and send output values or trigger configured actions.

A typical on/off setup uses Value for Off and Value for On. These are commonly configured as 0 for off and 1 for on.
