The **Database** category in the MIStudio Logic Editor contains components used to connect to databases, discover database structure, read and write data, and perform database-based analysis.

Database components can be added from the **Database** category in the Logic Editor palette.

==== Overview ====

Database workflows in MIStudio may include:

  * Creating and configuring a database connection
  * Discovering available tables and columns
  * Reading data from a database
  * Writing or modifying database data
  * Sending database results to other logic components
  * Building Feature Extractor requests
  * Extracting features from historical process data
  * Comparing extracted feature sets

The exact components used depend on the database platform and the application workflow.

Database connection components provide access to external databases for other Logic Editor components.

==== Feature Extraction and Analysis ====

The Database category also includes components for working with historical process data and calculated features.

These include:
