 +==== Overview ====
 +
 +The AuthorizationButton graphic is a More Layout button control used for user authentication.
 +
 +AuthorizationButton is used with MIStudio security behavior. When pressed, it opens an authorization window where a user can enter a user name and password.
 +
 +AuthorizationButton requires a Local Security Manager or MIX Security Manager in the Logic Editor for testing and deployment use.
 +
 +==== Common Uses ====
 +
 +  * Logging in a user
 +  * Logging off a user
 +  * Authenticating access to protected actions
 +  * Supporting security-controlled buttons, servers, manipulators, or URL buttons
 +  * Displaying login status on an application screen
 +
 +==== Input Behavior ====
 +
 +AuthorizationButton has no default input ports.
 +
 +==== Output Behavior ====
 +
 +AuthorizationButton has no default output ports.
 +
 +AuthorizationButton is used to authenticate the user through a security manager rather than sending a value through a logic output port.
 +
 +==== AuthorizationButton-Specific Behavior ====
 +
 +AuthorizationButton opens an authorization window when the user presses the button.
 +
 +The authorization window is modal, so it must be closed before the user can continue interacting with the application screen.
 +
 +AuthorizationButton-specific settings include:
 +
 +  * **Name** Sets the name of the AuthorizationButton graphic.
 +  * **Bezel** Sets the AuthorizationButton bezel style.
 +  * **Enabled** Controls whether the user can interact with the AuthorizationButton.
 +  * **Font** Controls the font used on the AuthorizationButton.
 +  * **Font Color** Sets the font color.
 +  * **Bezel Color** Sets the outside bezel color.
 +  * **Bezel Inside Color** Sets the inside bezel color.
 +  * **Bezel Thickness** Sets the thickness of the bezel.
 +  * **Cursor** Sets the cursor shown when the pointer is over the AuthorizationButton.
 +  * **HashPasswords** Controls password hashing behavior.
 +  * **PasswordLifetime** Sets the password lifetime value.
 +  * **Visible** Controls whether the AuthorizationButton is shown.
 +
 +==== Security Manager Requirement ====
 +
 +AuthorizationButton requires a security manager in the Logic Editor.
 +
 +For testing or deployment, add a Local Security Manager or MIX Security Manager to the same application page as the AuthorizationButton.
 +
 +The security manager handles the authentication behavior used by the AuthorizationButton.
 +
 +==== Logic Ports ====
 +
 +In the Logic Editor, AuthorizationButton has no default input or output ports.
 +
 +==== Notes ====
 +
 +Use AuthorizationButton when an application needs user login or authentication behavior.
 +
 +Use this graphic with a Local Security Manager or MIX Security Manager.
 +
 +For general button-style output behavior, use [[mistudio:design_editor:more_layout:buttons_inputs:button|Button]].
 +
 +For opening a URL or switching to another application, use [[mistudio:design_editor:basic_layout:active_controls:urlbutton|URLButton]].
